How to request and collect cash on delivery

How to enable cash or check collection at stops

If you need your drivers to collect a check or cash on delivery at certain stops, you can enable this feature, which is off by default.

  • Go to Settings > Operations > Proof of delivery

  • Go to the > Cash on delivery tab

  • Toggle the feature to > ON

  • Check that the currency is correct. You can edit currency type in > General Settings


How to add/edit a monetary amount for cash on delivery

When importing stops via a spreadsheet, add the monetary amount that needs to be collected to the Cash on Delivery column of your spreadsheet for selected stops.

You can manually edit/add monetary amounts to stops by clicking an individual stop to edit it, then under > Stop setup, click> Cash on delivery and directly add a monetary value.

You can also import cash on delivery data for stops using Spoke's API.

How recipients can see cash on delivery information

If you have Recipient notifications enabled, your recipients will be able to see cash on delivery requirements on the tracking link shared with them in their email/SMS recipient notifications.

When an item is out for delivery, recipients will see this message, which includes details of the monetary amount due.

If the delivery fails because payment cannot be collected, their tracking link will update to show that the delivery failed because payment wasn't received.

How drivers can see cash on delivery information

When a stop requires the driver to collect check/cash on delivery, the amount that they need to collect will be displayed in the stop details on the driver app.

When attempting a stop that requires check/cash on delivery, drivers will be prompted on their driver app to select the payment type, confirm that the amount has been received, and collect the recipient's signature.

At the end of every route, the driver will also be shown a summary of their route and a breakdown of the payments collected.

How dispatchers can edit/see cash on delivery information

On the Dispatcher Dashboard cash on delivery information is editable/visible when viewing individual routes and stops.

Once a route is complete, a summary of the amount collected is visible by clicking an individual route or its stops for more information.

Click the 3 horizontal dots at the top of a route, then select > Print manifest to download a route manifest that includes a cash on delivery summary for each stop.
